About

Being able to workshop a work problem with people outside of work is a gift.

— Engineering Director, 2022

Orbital Studios helps you find and develop a community of practice—a group of peers you can both learn from and turn to for challenges (and opportunities) down the road.

First, we screen applicants to ensure they meet the specific requirements for experience level, role and responsibility.

Then, we convene a series of live virtual gatherings—usually over 4-5 weeks—facilitated by an experienced Studio Lead.

What you can expect:

  • Stories, best practices and perspectives that will aid you in your career.
  • Thoughtful dialogue amongst a cohort of relevant peers.
  • Access to an ongoing, growing alumni network after the program concludes.

About the Studio Lead

Each Studio is led by Orbital founder Gary Chou, who has been building networks in the tech industry for over a decade.

Since 2016, Orbital has hosted Studios for 350+ product managers, designers and engineering leaders from over 100 companies to learn from and with their peers across the industry.

From 2010 to 2013, Gary served as Union Square Ventures' first portfolio General Manager, where he designed, launched and led various peer-learning opportunities for the portfolio company CEOs, executives and subject matter experts.

These programs are always exceptional, Gary does amazing work and I highly encourage you to apply if interested
The most common piece of advice I give to leaders during coaching is to build a peer group. Gary can help you bootstrap it. (also I try to drop in randomly on some of these when I can, because the work of learning is never done)
Highly recommend attending this if you are able to! It was one of the best peer-to-peer feedback and learning group I've attended. This one targets Eng. Directors+.
